Before you connect

Where do I add a custom MCP connector in ChatGPT?

Custom connectors live in Settings, Connectors. Full read and write MCP connectors require developer mode, which is available on paid plans and can be switched off by a workspace owner.

Why does ChatGPT ask me to sign in to Getlead?

Getlead's MCP server is an OAuth 2.1 resource server. ChatGPT registers itself, then sends you to a Getlead consent page where you approve with your own login. No key is pasted into ChatGPT.

Can ChatGPT use Getlead inside deep research?

Read tools work well as a research source: search the database, pull campaign stats, read the inbox. Sending tools are write actions that need an explicit confirmation, so they belong in a normal chat.

What if my workspace admin blocks connectors?

Business and enterprise workspaces can disable custom connectors. If that applies to you, use a personal account, or connect through Claude, Cursor or Gemini CLI with an API key instead.

Does it spend my Getlead credits?

Yes, the same ones the dashboard spends: a search costs B2B credits, a campaign draws on your email allowance. There is no separate MCP quota.
